Beating Death...Day-by-Day...Prayer-by-Prayer

Read Author's Preface

Roy Olson was no stranger to crisis or tragedy.

As a newspaper man, public relations consultant, and government official, he had:
  • Watched blood spurt from the head of a suicide victim in a hospital emergency room.
  • Stood in the midst of the devastation caused by one of the strongest tornadoes ever to strike Ohio.
  • Coped with how to overcome one of the Chicago area's most severe snowstorms.
However, the crisis...the potential tragedy...he faced this time was different. It involved Beth, his wife for more than 44 years.

Though apparently in excellent health, she had fallen victim to a massive aneurysm.
Blood flowed throughout her brain...death seemed imminent...

Olson turned to an odd combination as he sought a miracle: prayer...and the internet.

From Bistros to Bible Study

Roy Olson is a story-teller.  His varied life has carried him from his birthplace, on the shores of Lake Superior, to the bustling streets of Chicago and to the highest levels of political power.

He has interviewed one-on-one Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, been upbraided by one of the nation’s leading football coaches, and counseled an aged inner city pastor, “marked for death” by a drug gang.

Olson has brushed shoulders with the most powerful of leaders, members of organized crime, sports heroes, and the “down and out”.

His book offers a stimulating series of vignettes that portray life experiences which range from the zany to the solemn; from Hearst newspapering to biblical study; from a Manhattan glass to an inner city ministry.
